Brief:
Design Joburg 2022 positioned itself as a cross-disciplinary showcase of African innovation in interiors, furniture, art, and design. I was invited to serve on the Creative Panel, working alongside fellow industry leaders to conceptualize, streamline, and elevate the show’s design experience.
In tandem with this, I also took part as an exhibitor in the Co-Labs division — a curated section that paired creators to produce original works and immersive spaces that reflect the future of African design thinking.
As a Creative Panelists I contributed towards facilitating conversations around non-linear design trajectories and cultural integration in the built environment, pertaining to how inclusivity in these spaces should be a trending practise and exercise towards co-creation in the supply chain. As an exhibitor, my focus was to disrupt traditional notions of domestic luxury by presenting a space that embodied cultural spirituality, future nostalgia, and alternative ways of fusing fashion, street art & commerce into sacred and exclusive spaces such as interior design. This notion led to the initiative of Design Week South Africa that brings the creative and art industry together under one roof.
